David Thomson was born in 1971 in Perth and currently lives and works in Sydney after being based in London and Berlin. He completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts in Painting at the College of Fine Arts, Sydney, and has since been involved in numerous group shows, residencies, workshops and performances both locally and across Australia including The Bakery, Perth, Fremantle Arts Centre, Fremantle and Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. He is a 2010 recipient of the Qantas Foundation Encouragement of Australian Contemporary Art Award. Thomson recently held solo exhibitions at Freerange, Gallery, Perth (2010), Chalkhorse Gallery, Sydney (2010) and in 2011 participated in The Midwest Art Prize and PICA Salon.
