Visual artist Marijke Loosjes graduated from Curtin University of Technology in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts). Her work explores the different mediums of digital photography, film photography, found object sculptures, and ink and watercolour drawings.
“I have a very strong interest in what is deemed taboo and abject. I consciously and honestly explore these boundaries in society and my own life. I have the need to document all my findings and experiences with words, drawings, photographs, colours and materials. I naturally curate all this documentation and juxtapose it together, whether being inside my visual diary, as a series of photographs or a sculptural installation. I like to create a mood, evoke strong emotions, give reason for question, allow confusion, connection and acceptance.”
