RHINOCEROS is an eclectic mix of both local and interstate artists at varying stages of their careers. Although our individual practices are disparate, we come together over shared philosophies of making, where process is the driving force. Having completed two projects together thus far, the recurring element significant to the development of this group and future projects is the act of the conversation. In part, RHINOCEROS might be seen as a sort of social experiment, where dialogue becomes critical both as an exchange of ideas and a means of establishing connections. RHINOCEROS has recently commenced a one year residency at Fremantle Arts Centre. During this time, we intend to operate outside of what we think we know and are comfortable with, via projects focused on the exchange of ideas with people outside of our known art networks, as well as other artists.
